The key raw material of steelmaking
Sponge iron (DRI) is produced from iron ore pellets by the Midrex process. It is one of the main raw materials of the steel industry, used especially in steelmaking plants and electric arc furnaces.
The Gohar Zamin Steel sponge iron complex in Bardsir, Kerman Province, was built to complete the value chain and add value to the region's mineral resources.
